Objective:To discuss the causes,clinical features, related auxiliary test results and treatments in patients with limbic encephalitis. Raising the awareness of clinicians,then avoid the delayed diagnosis of limbic encephalitis.Methods:Reviewed analysis the clinical features,the results of EEG,MRI and CSF in 10 patients with limbic encephalitis who were admission in the first and second affiliated hospital Chongqing medical university from May 2008 to March 2011 ,then to study their etiology.Results:The 10 patients were mainly character with memory loss;mental symptoms,such as:nonsense,irritability,apathy ,hallucinations, delusions,etc; epilepsy,part were associated with symptoms of the pyramidal or extrapyramidal system . In severe cases,there were loss of consciousness. EEG showed light - moderate abnormalities.Limbic system showed abnormal signal on MRI.The resultes of cerebrospinal fluid were not specific.8 patients in them who have been given anti-virus and glucocorticoid therapy in timely were recovered .1 patient was in vegetatival state. another patient was died because of respiratory failure.Conclusion:Becaue its clinical manifestations are various, the results of auxiliary examinations are often atypical and the etiologies are complex. Limbic encephalitis was rare diagnosised in clinical. When clinicians suspect patients with limbic encephalitis,we need to find the cause by further exzaminations.After all,early diagnosis, treatment for the cause will help improving prognosis.
