Tree-of-heaven Ailanthus Bark is considered as a traditional Chinese medicine herbs. The results of the enzyme-linked immune response shows that the bark of Ailanthus altissima could effectively inhibit tobacco mosaic virus in vitro inhibitory experiments. The extract is divided into water-soluble and lipid-soluble substances. Using a variety of separation techniques and extraction of materials, there are 19 mixtures extracted. Among these extracts, 9 could effectively inhibit Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). With the technology of TLC and HPLC, we can clear the size of the active ingredient and extract the range. Furthermore high activity ingredient was determined by the ELISA. With the application of various of liquid phase chromatographic techniques, including molecular sieve chromatography, silica gel chromatography, reversed phase chromatography, and different gradient solvent systems, also with HPLC, high performance liquid chromatography purification of water-soluble and lipid-soluble active fraction, highly reactive organic chemical compounds were obtained. Their peak time and the mobile phase of active substances in Ailanthus altissima were then determined. Our results would provide reliable data for the future research.
