The Correlation Between The Level Of HER-2/neu ECD In Gastric Cancer Patients' Serum And The Expression Of HER-2/neu In Tumor Tissues And It Witgh Clinical Characteristic

Objective: To discuss the correlation between the level of HER-2/neu ECD in gastric cancer patients'blood serum and the expression of HER-2/neu in tumor tissues and relationship between clinical characteristic and the level.Method: Collect 46 cases of gastric cancer patients'tissue samples (after radical operation) and serum samples (before operation) at the second people's hospital in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province from January 2010 to December 2010.Use immunohistochemistry (IHC) to test the expression of HER-2/neu in tissue samples and use enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to test the HER-2/neu ECD level in serum samples of patients with gastric cancer and 15 cases of healthy normal people and 22 cases of gastric benign lesion.Results: Among the patients with gastric cancer, 7/46 (15%) of them had a higher level of HER-2/neu ECD than normal ones. The positive rate of the expression of HER-2/neu was 13/46(28%). Among the positive ones of the expression of HER-2/neu, 38% of them had a higher level of HER-2/neu ECD, while among the negative ones, only 6% of them were higher than normal. The expression of HER-2/neu in gastric cancer tissues was associated with the level of HER-2/neu in serum (P<0.05). The level of HER-2/neu in serum was not associated with age, gender, T stage, lymph node metastasis, postoperative pathologic stage and tumor differentiation degree(P>0.05). The expression of HER-2/neu in tumor tissues was not associated with age, gender, T stage (the depth of tumor invasion), postoperative pathologic stage and tumor differentiation degree (P>0.05), but was associated with the lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).Conclusion: 1. Among the gastric cancer patients, the expression of HER-2/neu in tumor tissues was associated with the level of HER-2/neu in serum (P<0.05).2. The level of HER-2/neu in serum was not associated with age, gender, T stage, lymph node metastasis, postoperative pathologic stage and tumor differentiation degree(P>0.05). The expression of HER-2/neu in tumor tissues was not associated with age, gender, T stage (the depth of tumor invasion), postoperative pathologic stage and tumor differentiation degree (P>0.05), but was associated with the lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).
