Therefore, we have studied about the effects of Xiao Yao pill on gastrointestinal smooth muscle, heart, and blood pressure and its mechanism. And we hope that we can directly explain the role of traditional Chinese medicine from the research methods of the western medicine.Xiao Yao pill becomes pill from Xiao Yao powder, and Xiao Yao powder comes from Taiping Huimin mixture. Xiao Yao pill is composed of Chinese thorowax root, Chinese angelica, paeoniae radix, largehead atractylodes rhizome, tuckahoe, liquorice, ginger, mint and other components. It has the effects of comforting liver, removing depression, nourishing stomach and strengthen spleen. Its cindincation also includes liver-energy upseting, chest pain, chills and fever, dizzy, throat dry, weariness and inappetence and breast pain. Largehead atractylodes rhizome, tuckahoe, liquorice and ginger can tonify spleen and stomach. Xiao Yao pill is a classic prescription for harmonizing liver and spleen, and it has the exact and extensive clinical effect. Now it has been widely used as adjuvant treatment of gynaecopathia, hyperplasia of mammary glands,hepatobiliary diseases,qastrointestinal trat diseases, neurosis, depression, cardio-cerebro- vascular disease, diabetes mmellitus and so on. There have been many reports about the treatment effect of Xiao Yao pill on gastrointestinal diseases and hypertension, so we lay emphasis on the research of the influence of Xiao Yao pill on gastrointestinal smooth muscle, heart and blood pressure and its mechanism.1. The effect of Xiao Yao pill on the smooth muscle of gastrointestinal tract (1)Prepare the Xiao Yao pill solution with the concentration of 15%, and inject the solution into normal rabbit from the vein of the ear margin with the dosage of 5ml/kg. The results show that Xiao Yao pill can make of intestinal smooth muscle enhance the contraction activity, increase its tension, and the contraction frequency spontaneous.(2)Establish the enteroparalysis model, in which the intestinal smooth muscle is relaxed, peristalsis and stanza sports waveform disappear. Inject the 15% Xiao Yao pill solution into normal rabbit from the vein of the ear margin with the dosage of 5ml/kg, After 2-3 minutes ,the intestinal smooth muscle tension enhanced, spontaneous contraction activities resumed after.(3)Establish the enterospasm intestines model, in which the intestinal canal becomes thinner, pale and the blood vessels become dark purple. Inject the 15% Xiao Yao pill solution into normal rabbit from the vein of the ear margin with the dosage of 5ml/kg, After 1-2 minutes the color of the intestinal smooth muscle turned to red from dark purple, the intestinal canal and the blood vessels dilated, the contraction became rhythmic.Conclusions: Xiao Yao pill has two-way regulating functions to the intestinal smooth muscle, and this effect has relationship with the state of the intestinal smooth muscle. Xiao Yao pill can excites the intestinal smooth muscle, make it peristalsis strengthened. Xiao Yao pill can make the intestinal smooth muscle excite when it is in the paralysis condition; and it can relief spasm when the intestinal smooth muscle is in the spasm condition.2. The effect of Xiao Yao pill on blood pressureThrough biological signal processing systems, we record blood pressure changes by computer. Record the changes of blood pressure after and before injecting the 15% solution into normal rabbit from the vein of the ear margin with the dosage of 5ml/kg, the results show that Xiao Yao pill can make blood pressure drops.3. The effect of Xiao Yao pill on myocardial contractile forceThrough biological signal processing systems, we record cardiac activity curve by computer. Record the frog heart construction curve after and before injecting the rabbit blood serum containing Xiao Yao pill into frog heart. The results show that the force of cardiac muscle systole increases markedly after injecting the blood serum.
