Objective:To analyze the use of external fixator in the treatment of infection after open fracture of the femur and the efficacy of clinical methods.Change 32 cases of infection after open fracture of femur from June 2000 to June 2009,24 male and 8 females. Aged 26 to 64 years,the average is 35.6 years old;21 cases of fracture were of the right femur,left 11 cases;Traffic accident injuries in 18 cases,8 cases of injury fall height,falls in 3 cases,injured by a hard object in 3 cases.Methods:Fixation in all patients were removed,washed fracture lines with povidone-iodine,hydrogen peroxide.When necessary,put into the antibiotic-loaded cement beads.Change for the introduction of external fixator.Follow-up observation of infection control and fracture healing.Results:32 patients were all followed up of 6 months to 4 years:curing 14, excellence 9, utility 8, ineffective 1.Effective power reach at 96.88%. Conclusions:External fixator in the treatment of femoral open fracture has a good clinical effect.This method is considered for clinical.
