Background and ObjectiveFemoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome called FA1, for unexplained hip pain had a brand-new perspective. FA1 just as its name implies is refers to the femoral head neck and acetabulum have the obstacle cooperating with each other, in the process of the buckling. The femoral head at the junction of osseous bump cause abnormal collision in the movement to end-stage and hip symptoms and signs, followed up hip osteoarthritis, cartilage stripping, and mortar lip tearing pathological changes, etc. In order to guide clinical work, FAI can be divided into CAM type,Pincer type and Mixed type. Usually, the CAM type is common collision. In the course of treatment, the dislocation of hip joint can be executed and the cam should be truncated. The common cause of cam usually refers to the clinical histology slippage. The research purpose is the histological dyeing change of cam, normal articular cartilage and osteophyte and providing the theory basis for disease pathogenesis. We can obtain the type of histology of cam and do the disease prevention.Materials and methods15 cases were screened out from the patients who had the surgical operation in The First Affliated Hospital of Zhengzhou university and The United States Virginia university medical center in orthopedics. We cut off the cam(called A group),the partial normal articular cartilage(called B group) and the osteophyte(cailled C group) as the same part as the bone convex. Then,we should do general observations of tissue specimens, H-Eand immunohistochemical staining and the qualitative analysis of typeⅡcollagen. The data were analysed with SPSS 13.0 soft ware. Results1.The result of general observation to group A, B, C of surface appearance and texture is different.2.It is hard to identify the histological types of the cam with HE staining. Normal transparent cartilage tissue is clear and the osteophyte is fibrocartilage. The result of Immunohistochemical staining is the expression of type II collagen show weak positive in the A group, obviouly positive in B group and negative in C group.3. In the expression of typeⅡcollagen, there is a significant difference among each group in total (P<0.05); There is significant statistical difference between group B and group A(P<0.05);There is significant statistical difference between group A and group C (P<0.05); There is significant statistical difference between group B and group C (P<0.05).ConclucionsThe CAM is different from the normal articular cartilage and the osteophyte. It is between the two.
