Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of combined treatment ofMP(methylprednisolone) and MMF (mycophenolate mofetil) in rats with acute spinal cordinjury. Methods Allens WD spinal cord injury rat model was constructed. Seventy - two rats weredivided into 4 groups: Eighteen rats per group(per group contain four hours group,Twentyfourhours group,Ten days group, three subgroup, per subgroup six rats). Control group:Peritoneal injection 5ml physiological saline 0.5 hour after injuried; MP group: Peritonealinjection methylprednisolone 30mg∕ kg body weight 0.5 hour after injuried; MMF group:Peritoneal injection MMF(mycophenolate mofetil)25mg∕ kg body weight 0.5 hour afterinjuried. The rats were terminated at the 4th hour, the 24th hour and on the 10th day aftertrauma, Observations of pathomorphology of the injured site of the spinal cord were made. Thesamples were taken from the spinal cord injury sites after the injury and tested by HE,Nisslstaining for histopathological and by TBA method for MDA, and ten days group discern at 1th,3th,5th,7th,10th,day commit motor function score and inclined plane test.Result The groups treated with MP,MMF after acute spinal card injury were compared withcontrol group significantly enhanced ethological score, inclined plane test and pathomorphology(P<0.05), however, there was no obvious differences between the tow treated groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The administration of MP or MMF has not different efficacy obviously existingexperiment condition for the treatment of acute spinal cord injury.
