Objective: To investigate hydrogen sulfide(H2S) levels in serum of brain injury and its clinical significance. Methods: To detect the hydrogen sulfide in serum of male SD rats which 18 with traumatic brain injury and six control and six operated control with spectrophotometry. Results: The analysis showed that endogenous H2S of brain injury model rats(32.93±6.66)μmol/L significantly higher than the control group(14.87±5.12)(P <0.01). Injury group compared with the operated control group(16.58±6.27)μmol/L was significantly(P<0.05).Severe traumatic brain injury group(64.15±10.69)mol/L and mild injury group(48.34±8.01)μmol/L have great difference to the moderate group(32.93±6.66)μmol/L(P <0.05),and the severe traumatic brain group to the mild injury group was significance suppressed( P < 0. 05) .Conclusion: Endogenous hydrogen sulfide increased in the acute brain injury model rats. The levels of endogenous H2S increasing as the serious of brain injury. The levels of endogenous H2S in serum play an important role in diagnosis of brain injury and prognosis.
