Objectives: This paper studies on the clinic and morphological features of retinoschisis in highly myopic eyes and tries to explore the mutual relationship among the maximum space of the retinoschisis, axis length and retina thickness. This study is expected to offer first-hand materials for iatrogenic treatment on highly myopic eyes. Methods: The paper has selected patients of retinoschisis in highly myopic eyes who came to Shanxi Eyes Hospital from Jan. 2009 to Jun. 2010 for treatment and analyzed their OCT results. The selection standards are: diopter≥-6.00D, axis length≥24mm.These patients have examined by underwent complete ocular examination, A-scan for eye axis length, B-scan for posterior staphyloma, fundus photography and optical coherence tomography OCT (German Heidelberg) for retinoschisis space. We used the compound tropicamide to make pupil dilation and asked patients whose eye sight is not lower than 0.1 to fix eyes on inner place while whose eye sight is lower than 0.1 to stare outside. We scanned vertically and horizontally and stored and printed the typical graphs. Then we compared these OCT results and measured the retinoschisis thickness.Statistics: All data processed by the SPSS15.0 statistical software, statistical results are mean±marked difference (x|ˉ±S), the comprision of the axial length between the two groups is made by t examination, axial length and central foveal thickness related to normal school by pearson examination, the influence of factors from foveoschisis on axial length and central foveal thickness is measured by compare multiple regression analysis. Results: There are 32 eyes of 26 patients (11 eyes from male and 21 eyes of females) who are classified as the myopic foveoschisis team while 30 eyes of 17 patients (13 eyes from male and 17 eyes from female) are regarded as the highly myopic team without retinoschisis. We can see wide macular area with low echo space which have link of bridge column on the OCTs of these 32 retinoschisis eyes. Myopic foveoschisis: refraction is -13.94±4.17D; axial length is 32.14±1.373mm; visual acuity is 0.051±0.025; the rate of posterior staphyloma is 93.75%. Highly myopic: refraction is -12.83±3.76D; axial length is 27.57±2.394mm; visual acuity is 0.083±0.041; the rate of posterior staphyloma is 56.67%. The thickness of myopic foveoschisis is 494.71±14.10. Its axial length and foveoschisis thickness are positive correlated to each other with r=0.399,p=0.001.Conclusion:1. The morphological features of myopic foveoschisis can be observed distinctly.2. The axial length and foveoschisis thickness are positive correlated to each other.3. Posterior staphyloma plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of myopic foveoschisis.
