Objeetive:To analyze the incidence of prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with histologic prostatitis and to research the clinical features of BPH with histologic prostatitis. Methods:we analysised 58 case of BPH patients who was operated TURP or prostatectomy in the first affiliateted hospital of GuangXi medical university from Mar,2010 to Nov,2010, we divided patients into BPH and BPH with histological prostatitis on basis of pathological results, and several items including age, history, IPSS, QOL, volume of prostate, prostate specific antigen (PSA) and acute urinary retention(AUR) were analyzed. Results:in all 58 BPH patients 37(63.79%) were found combined with histologic prostatitis and both of them are chronic inflammations. the grade of inflammation:mild 28 (75.68%), moderate 7 (18.92%) and severe 2 (5.40%). simple BPH 21 (36.21%). anatomical location of inflammation were categorized as stromal 54.05%(20/37), periglandular 48.65%(18/37%) and glandular 18.92%(7/37). tissue extent involved by inflammatory cell infiltrates:focal 30 (81.08%), moderate 7 (18.92%) and diffuse 0. Those patients' history were longer, there scores of IPSS, QOL and PSA value were higher than that of patients without prostatitis. The total volume of prostate respectively in patients with BPH combined with prostatitis, which were larger than those of the patients without prostatitis, and there was a positive correlation between volume of prostate and histologic prostatitis. (r=0.627, P<0.01). on the other hand, those were no significant differences about patients' age and risk of AUR between two groups. (P>0.05)Conclusion:the histologic prostatitis is often found in most BPH samples and both of them are chronic inflammations. tissue anatomical location involved by inflammatory cell infiltrates: stromal and periglandular are more, extent and grade:focal and mild are more. BPH patients combined with histologic prostatitis are relatively with higher lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), higher value in prostate volume and PSA.
