Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of electric acupuncture combined with rTMS on emotions and ERPs in rat model of anxiety following SPS stress. Methods Fifty male rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:the empty group(K),the model group(M),the model group accepted electric acupuncture treatment(Z),the model group accepted both electric acupuncture and rTMS treatment(CZ),the model group accepted rTMS treatment(C). Rats were subjected to SPS stress, the next day they accepted different treatment in each group, groupZ used electric acupuncture on Baihui point (DU20) and Changqiang point (DU1), groupC used high-frequency (18.3Hz) rTMS, the stimulation consisted of 25 trains of 16 pulses, group CZ used both electric acupuncture and rTMS treatment. Once per day, keep on 3 days. Body weight gain, elevated plus maze test and open field test were performed. After being anesthetized with Chloral Hydrate, P3-like potentials were evoked by the oddball auditory stimulation and CNV-like potentials were elicited by condition-test stimulus. Results 1. Body weights increased less in groupM than in groupK, increased less in groupC than in groupK, increased less in groupCZ than in groupK, increased less in groupC than in groupZ, increased less in groupCZ than in groupZ.2. OT% was more in groupC than in groupM, detecting head behavioral could be more observed in groupC/groupZ than in groupM, standing behavioral could be more observed in groupCZ than in groupM/groupZ.3. Horizontal movements and vertical movements were both more in groupCZ than in groupM, vertical movements were more in groupZ/groupK.4. P3 latencies is more prolonged in groupM than in groupK/ groupZ.5. GroupK showed shorter CNV latencies than other groups, groupM showed lower CNV amplitudes than other groups, the CNV amplitudes in groupK were higher than those in groupZ/groupCZ, the CNV amplitudes in groupZ were higher than those in groupC.Conclusion 1. Both electric acupuncture and high-frequency rTMS could reduce emotional reaction and repair the cognition, so dose the electric acupuncture combined with rTMS.2. Compared with groupC/groupCZ, groupZ showed more dominance.
