Sevoflurane (1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl fluoromethyl ether) is a recently introduced inhaled anesthetic. It is now one of the most widely used anesthetic because, unlike other fluorinated inhaled anesthetic, it lacks a Pungent odor, and thus, can be used for induction of anesthesia. In this paper, Hexafluoroisopropanol and Metaformaldehyde were employed as the starting materials, aluminum fluoride as catalyst and reacted to form crude sevoflurane, the molar yield was beyond 50%. The final Sevoflurane product was obtained by rectifying crude Sevoflurane. the yield range is 60-72%, The whole reaction procedure were simple only one step, the reaction conditions were mild and the synthesized product were easily separated, the total molar yield was about 20%.The synthesized sevoflurane samples were characterized by IR, UV-Vis, EA etc in this paper. The results showed that the synthesized product in accordance with the reference standard sevoflurane sample in terms of the structure or performance.
