Objective To investigate the effects of extract of grub on treat retinal vein occlusion(RVO)and the action mechanism of controls the retinal neovascularization.Methods 40 rabbits were randomly into 4 groups, with 10 in each. Ten animals in group A were taken as healthy controls, and the other rabbits in group B, C and D were prepared as RVO model by photochemistry and fed respectively with normal saline, FFXST(fufang xueshuantogn) and positive controlling drug.The retina of RVO was observed by eye-ground photography and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) on the 1h,1d,1wk,2wk, 3wk after photocoagulation.After the experiment 1wk and 3wk to kill the rabbitsrespectively. Todetect the density of HGF ES in the retina, and the morphological variations were observed under lightmicroscope. Results The RVO model have established successfully in 60 eyes. We can see haemorrhage eyeground of every group after the model have established successfully 1 wk, the ratio of non perfusion area and optic disk area(S)for B group is the highest,C group is higher, D group is the lowest.On the 2wk after the RVO model established, each group still appears haemorrhage,hydroncus and non perfusion area, B group becomes greater,3 in 10 eyes appear new vessels,C,D group s area decreases.On the3wk after the RVO model established,5 eyes fof B group arise new vessels, B group have a mass of non perfusion area, but C,D group have no obvious non perfusion area. On the 1wk and 3wk after the RVO model established, The morphological variations of D were smaller than B and C in observed under light microscope The SABC result of HGF. ES shows:HGF for B group rises distinctly than C. D group,the variations for D group is the lowest,ES for B group falls clearly, the variations for D group is the lowest,the difference has statistical significance (P<0.05)Conclusions Extract of grub could promote the uptake of haemorrhage, to improve the conditions of retina hypohemia, to depress the excessive expression of HGF, enhance the ability of ES in retina surface after RVO, in order to treats RVO.
