Objective To study the characteristic and influencing factors of anxiety and depression symptoms of neurology patients in general hospital.Methods Neurology patients of Changzhi People's Hospital were investigated with self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS) including age, gender, educational level, occupation, state of health and other factors.Results The positive rate of anxiety and depression symptoms were 34.77% and 39.84% respectively. The significance were higher in the research than in the control group(p<0.01).The positive rates of anxiety and depression of the patients with neurology diseases(stroke) were both higher than the patients without neurology diseases. The difference is significant between two groups(p<0.01). The anxiety and depression symptoms were correlated with age, gender and educational level.Conclusion Anxiety and depression are common phenomenon of neurology patients and more frequently affected in females than males. With increasing of age and educational levels, the groups are more liability to anxiety and depression.
