Objective:To investigate the relationship between colorectal cancer with hepatic metastasis and its clinical data and its pathologic type. And we wished to explore an appropriative way to early diagnosis, early therapy and survival rate of surgical therapy and improve quality of life for colorectal cancer with hepatic metastasis. Methods:The clinical data of 70 patients with pathologically confirmed liver metastasis of colorectal cancer treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from March 1998 to November 2005 were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical characteristics, tumor location, pathological stage, tumor differentiation and clinical characteristics in these patients were compared with that of 65 colorectal cancer patients without liver metastasis.Results:(1) There were no significant differences in the age, gender, tumor location and tumor differentiation degree the 2 groups.(2) Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer was related to tumor type. The case of the liver metastasis group protruded, ulceration, infiltrative proportion were 35.71%,45.71%,18.57%; The case of control group protruded, ulceration, infiltrative proportion were 24.61%,69.23%,6.15 %; There were significant differences between the 2 groups.(3) Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer was related to tumor bulk. The case of the liver metastasis group tumor diameter<5cm,5-10cm,>10cm proportion were 34.29%,44.29%,21.42%;The case of control group tumor diameter<5cm,5-10cm,>10cm proportion were 58.46%,33.85%, 7.69%;There were significant differences between the 2 groups.(4) Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer was related to tumor infiltration degree. The case of the liver metastasis group T1,T2,T3,T4 proportion were 0%,22.86%,44.28%,32.86%; The case of control group T1,T2,T3,T4 proportion were 10.76%,58.47%,29.23%,1.54%;The case of liver metastasis group T3,T4 was higher proportion than control group; Control group T1,T2 was higher proportion than liver metastasis group. There were significant differences between the 2 groups.(5) Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer was related to the feature of with or without lymph node mitastasis. The case of the liver metastasis group with lymph node mitastasis proportion were 81.43%,The case of control group without lymph node mitastasis proportion were 35.38%; There were significant differences between the 2 groups.(6) Line regression analysis showed that there were marked differences in the tumor infiltration degree and the feature of with or without lymph node mitastasis between the 2 groups. Conclusions:Liver metastasis of colorectal cancer is associated with the course of the tumor development. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent the liver metastases of colorectal cancer.
