Water is one of the substance and concerning with people's lives and social progress. Organic pollutants increased remarkably in groundwater and water resource with the fast increase of population and development of economy. By now, new standards for drinking water quality have given more attentions to organic pollutants in water, and the analyzing of organics in water has becoming the hot study topic. But many analyzing methods for organic pollutants could not be applied to water quality analysis, so, the study of organic pollutants analysis is of very importance. As a sample preparation, Solid-phase micro-extraction recommends combining sampling, pre-concentration, with injection. The advantages of this technique are the simplicity of operation, solvent-free. It is suit for organic pollutants analysis in water. Gas chromatography with flame ionization detector or electron capture detector has been widely applied for trace and ultra-trace analysis of organic chemicals in various environmental samples. The studies in this thesis are summarized as follows:1. Solid phase micro-extraction technique and its application in organic pollutants analysis in water. We studied Solid phase micro-extraction as sample preparation technique and its application in water analysis. The analytical method was established for simultaneous determination of naphthalin, anthracene, dimethyl phthalate, dioctyl phthalate and Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate in water samples. The extraction progress was carried out using fiber solid phase micro-extraction and gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC-FID) was used to analyze. The method showed good precision and recovery. It is simple, fast, precise and efficient.2. Application of gas chromatography method to Study of organic pollutants analysis in Water. Four analytical methods were established for analysis of organic pollutants in water by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector or electron capture detector. Fast Analysis of BTEX in Water by Capillary GC with flame ionization detector. Determination of volatile halohydrocarbons in Water by Capillary GC with electron capture detector. Determination of chlorophenols in groundwater water and water resource by Capillary GC with electron capture detector. Picric acid determination by Capillary GC with electron capture detector.3. Analysis of organic pollutants in groundwater and water resource in Hunan province. In this part, we used the results from the methods established in the previous work for conducting research and monitoring organic pollutions (30 items/sample) in water (total 420 samples) in Hunan province. This work is part of "Groundwater and Surface Water investigations in Hunan Province in the year 2008-2009", which is organized by Hunan environmental monitoring station. All of those will help to pave the foundation for further studies on organic pollution in water and protect environment in the future.
