Based on the etiological articles and clinical reports of vitiligo, this research discusses on the vitiligo of its psychological health state, and also of its improvement in treatment methods. We try to analyze and discover the psychological health state in vitiligo patients on head-face with different types of syndrome of TCM, and also provide basis for clinical treatment.Epidemiological documents indicate that the morbidity of this disease is about 1% in world-widely, and about 0. 1%-2% in China. There is a tendency of rising morbidity. The disease brings about patients great spiritual burden and psychological pressure, as the pathogen and pathogenesis of vitiligo are still unknown now, we see great sense of this research.The increasing research shows thatthe psychological factors in the pathogenesis of vitiligo played an important role for the past few years. There are many reports about relationship between psychological factors and vitiligo, however, similar report concerning TCM and traditional Chinese herbal medicine are unseen.Modern physicians discuss widely on etiology, pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation, and treatment of vitiligo. Some scholars are of the opinion that except hereditary factors, the causes of vitiligo are, seven emotions, discomforting five emotions, and nervousness. The usual types of vitiligo in clinic are Yin deficiency of both liver and kidney, Qi deficiency of spleen and stomach, Qi stagnation and blood stasis. Quickening-blood and transforming-stasis, dispelling-wind and smoothing network vessel are the basic methods of treatment. On the basis of the book of criteria on diagnosis of disease and syndrome of TCM and criteria on curative effect assessment published by national administrative bureau of TCM in 1994, the vitiligo is divided into two types of syndrome:Qi stagnation and blood stasis, Yin deficiency of both liver and kidneyObjective:This research is to observe the psychological state of vitiligo patients of Qi stagnation and blood stasis and that of Yin deficiency of both liver and kidney assessed by Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90), through which, We try to seek the the differences of psychological state between the two types of syndrome.Methods:With SCL-90, we made an investigation of 33 vitiligo patients of Qi stagnation and blood stasis and 27 vitiligo patients of Yin deficiency of both liver and kidney by questionnaire, and make a contrast with this two groups of patients using the software of SPSS 17.0. The results were tested with X2 test or t test.Results:The mean score of vitiligo patients of Qi stagnation and blood stasis is higher than that of vitiligo patients of Yin deficiency of both liver and kidney obviously on these factors:somatization, obsessive-compulsiveness, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, aggression, paranoid ideation and psychoticism(P<0.05). There was no significant difference (P>0.05) of the mean score of terror between this two groups of patients.Conclusion:vitiligo patients of Qi stagnation and blood stasis had a greater degree of mental disorders than that of Yin deficiency of both liver and kidney,so, vitiligo patients of Qi stagnation and blood stasis need more Psychotherapy focused on diffuse skills and emotional control.
