ObjectiveTo study the expression of REIC/Dkk-3 mRNA in colorectal cancer and its clinical significance.MethodsThe expression of REIC/Dkk-3 mRNA in colorectal cancer tissue and normal epithelial tissue was detected by Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction(RT-PCR)in 40 cases of colorectal cancer.ResultThe mRNA level of REIC/Dkk-3 gene in 23 of the 40(57.5%,23/40)samples from colorectal cancer tissue is markedly less than that from normal epithelial tissue (P<0.05).Furthermore,the decreased mRNA expression of REIC/Dkk-3 gene correlated positively with invasive depth of colorectal cancer. But it had no correlation with the age and sex of patients, lymph node metastnis, differentinition degree, tumor stage and locationConclusionThe decreased mRNA expression of REIC/Dkk-3 gene may play an imponant role in the development of colorectal cancer. And thus REIC gene might be a novel candidate of tumor-suppressor.
