ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical characteristics and the value of HRCT and volume rendering technique in children with congenital sensorineural hearing loss.MethodsIn 20 cases of brainstem auditory evoked potentials (ABR) diagnosed with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) patients with helical HRCT scan. The original data collection finished, according to thickness 0.625mm, reconstruction interval of 0.3mm, unilateral FOV9.6cm larger reconstruction, and then spread to the workstation line of multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) and the use of minimum intensity projection (Min IP), volume rendering (VR) and its stacking technology to observe the inner ear structure of post-processing.ResultsIn 20 cases of sensorineural deafness,37 ears with congenital inner ear malformations, anomalies of internal auditory canal(1 ear), common cavity associated(l ear), incomplete partition type I deafness (1 ear), incomplete partition type II((Mondini deformity) (8 ears), vestibule-lateral semicircular canal dysplasia (22 ears), dilated vestibular aqueduct (20 ears), internal auditory canal abnormality (8 ears), in 37 ear deformities in the bony labyrinth bony, external auditory canal atresia associated (2 ears), agenesis of the internal auditory canal basilar (3 ear), vestibular window latch(2 ears), cochlear window latch (1 ear), temporal bone fibrous dysplasia (1 ear).ConclusionsInfant sensorineural deafness mainly due to congenital inner ear dysplasia disease, clinical manifestations are not typical, easy to ignore the condition. HRCT with helical scan post-processing techniques can show clearly the structure of the inner ear.Volume rendering technique can provide higher quality three-dimensional images of the bony labyrinth and serves as a useful tool for analysis, classification, treatment and prognosis, it plays an important role in the diagnosis of infant SNHL.
