[Aims]We assess the extent of the white matter lesion and the cognition function of the patients of small vessel disease, and try to find their relationship, and to provide the probable forecast standard for the assessment to the progress of the small vessel disease.[Methods]We did the cognition function assessments, such as IQCODE, MMSE, CDR and so on, to the outpatients of the Department of Neurology in First Affiliated Hospital of the Medical College of Zhejiang University from October 2009 to December 2009, combining the cerebral MRI result and the clinical data, to find the patients of small vessel disease. Then, we evaluate the effect to the cognition function of the different extents and locations of the white matter lesions by the statistical analysis.[Results]Comparing with the normal group, the patients of small vessel disease have a manifest decreasing in the remembrance, the orientation force, the judgement, the social activity and the emotion(P<0.05). There are strongly relationship between the scores of MMSE, the remembrance scores of CDR and the extent of the periventricular lesions and the occipital horn lesions(γ>0.70), but the relationship between the deep white matter lesions and the cognitive impairment is limited(γ<0.39). [Conclusion]We conclude that the increase of the scores of MMSE and the CDR is a probable predictor to the progress of the white matter lesion, especially the periventricular lesions. |
