Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of proximal femoral LCP internal fixation in treatment of unstable intertrochanteric fracture. Methods: From August 2007 to December 2009, 39 patients with femoral unstable intertrochanteric fracture were treated by proximal femoral LCP, including 27 males and 12 females aged 17~89years old (average 60.8 years old). The injury was induced by tumbling in 29 cases,by traffic accident in 6 cases, falling from height in 4 cases, including 25 cases of type A2,14 cases of type A3 according to AO classification. The effect was investigated by retrospective analysis.Result: 36 cases were followed up for 5~16 months, average 11 months. All wounds healed well, and no postoperative complication occurred. All fracture healed well without deformed healing, screw loosening, plate fracture etc.. According to Harris Hip Score, the functional recovery of hip was as follows: Excellent(≥90 points) 24 cases ;Good(80~89 points) 12 cases ;Fair(70~79 points) 0 cases ;Poor(<70分) 0 cases, the excellent and good rate was 92.31%.Conclusion: Proximal femoral locking plate internal fixation, with the advantage of biological fixation, simple and reliable fixation methods, strong anti-rotation, less surgical trauma, without stripping the periosteum, high rate of fracture healing etc., is a good methods in treatment of unstable intertrochanteric fracture.
