Objective To study the sense of aloneness, degree of self-acceptance and behavioral problem of migrant children in Nanning, to explore the the evaluation of effect of group counseling on migrant children, and to provide scientific reference and experience for making intervention measures in order to improve mental health of migrant children.MethodsThere are two main parts in our study:1. To investigate the current sense of aloneness, status of self-acceptance and behavioral problems of migrant children. All students from three public primary schools in the suburban area were studied. A questionnaire which was designed by us ,CLS, SAQ and Rutter Children Behavioral Questionnaire(teacher) were adopted to investgate and evaluate children's status of mental health, analyze the incidence and distributive features; The total sample size was 2153.The students were divided into two groups: migrant children group, sample size are 573(26.6%) and non-migrant children group, sample size are 1580(73.4%), analyze the two groups with T test and Chi-square test; influence factors were analyzed by conditional logistic regression using related analysis to analyze the correlative level.2. The evaluation of effect of group counseling of migrant children's aloneness, self-acceptance and behavioral problems. Two classes in the 4th grade from Langxi primary school and Langdong primary school were chosen as subjects, Prescriptive group counseling was adopted to both migrant group and non-migrant group. Six counseling had been conducted to each group during six weeks, each counseling last 1 hour. SAQ,CLS and Rutter Children Behavioral Questionnaire(teacher) were investigated twice, one before and one after the group counseling, to analyze the influence comparing results from two groups.Rusult1. The result of CLS shows that the difference does not imply statistical significance between migrant group and non-migrant group, which was similar to other researchers'results; the positive rate of aloneness of the two group children were12.3% and 13.1% respectively.2. The result of SAQ shows that the average score of self-acceptance level of migrant children is lower than that of non-migrant children The difference has statistical significance(P<0.05);the average scores of self-acceptance and self-evaluation in the SAQ were both lower than the non-migrant children's, and the difference also has statistical significance(P<0.05).3. The result of Rutter Children Behavioral Questionnaire(teacher) shows that the incidence of migrant group and non-migrant group were 21.99% and 23.8% respectively, and these were higher than other researchers'result in China, but the difference of the two group does not have statistical significance.4. The result of aloneness level, incidence of aloneness, self-acceptance and self-evaluation in different gender and different grade migrant children shows that the difference does not have statistical significance. The incidence of behavioral problem shows that the incidence of male children were higher than that of female children, and the difference has statistical significance(P<0.05);the incidence of behavioral problem of different grade were 19.13%,17.0%,30.0%,the differences have statistical significance(P<0.05);the multiple comparison shows that the difference does not have statistical significance between low-grade group and middle-grade, but the high-grade were higher than the other two groups, and the diffenrence have statistical significance.5. Influencing factors analysis showed : there were two factors influence the aloneness of migrant children, good friends and degree of self-perceived lovelines(sP<0.1). Regression coefficient were -1.432,0.915,OR were 0.239,2.497;and there were also two factors influencing the behavioral problem of migrant children, which were gender and degree of self-perceived loveliness(P<0.1). Regression coefficient were -1.155,0.334,OR were 0.315,1.397.6. Analysis of correlation shows that there are significant relation between the total score of CLS and SAQ(r=-0.559, P<0.01);it is negatively related to the score of self-acceptance factors (r=-0.400, P<0.01); it is negatively related to the score of self-assessment factors (r=-0.400, P<0.01); it is positively related to Rutter score (r=0.128, P<0.01); and it is positively related to the score of N behavior of Rutter Questionnaire.7. After the intervetion of group counseling the difference of the total points of CLS have statistical significance in migrant group , non-migrant group and the control group(P<0.05),and the most difference is the migrant group, then is the non-migrant group, last is the control group. After pair-sample t test the difference of the incidence of CLS have statistical significance between the migrant group and non-migrant group before and after intervention(P<0.05).8. The difference of self-evaluation factor points have statistical significance after intervention(P<0.05),the difference in three groups after ontervention, and the most difference is the migrant group, then is the non-migrant group, last is the control group. After pair-sample t test the difference of total points of SAQ,self-acceptant factor points and self-evaluation factor points have statistical significance between the migrant group and non-migrant group before and after intervention(P<0.05).Conclusion1. The level of self-acceptance and self-evaluation of migrant children were lower than the non-migrant children.2. Among the migrant children ,the incidence of behavioral problem in male was higher than in female, and higher in high-grade children than in the middle-grade and primary-grade.3. The two factors influencing aloneness of migrant children were the good friends and degree of self-perceived loveliness, and when theie have good friends, the score of aloneness was lower; when the degree of self-perceived loveliness was higher, the score of aloneness was lower. The two influence factors of behavioral problem of migrant children were gender and self-perceived loveliness, and the probability of behavior problem in male are higher than in female, and probability of behavioral problem decreased when they feel self-perceived loveliness.4. There is in part correlation between aloneness self-acceptance and behavioral problem in migrant children. The higher level of aloneness is, the lower the degree of self-acceptance is and vice versa. And the higher level of aloneness is, the higher incidence of behavior problem is.5. Generally speaking, our intervention of group counseling was effective to migrant children as well as well as non-migrant children in reducing the aloneness level of migrant children, and improving their self-respect level and self-confident level as the results from these two group come out with no significant difference.
