Objective:To investigate the efficacy of preemptive analgesia with parecoxib for acute postoperative pain management after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods:Selecting ninety patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery, who were randomly allocated into three groups (thirty cases each group). In group 1, parecoxib 40 mg was injected 15 min preoperatively. In group 2, parecoxib 40 mg was injected at the end of operation. In group 3, normal saline 2 ml was injected instead of parecoxib. If the pain treatment did not provide satisfactory analgesia, pethidine was given as rescue medication. The analgesic effect was evaluated by VAS score (0-100,0=no pain,100=worst pain) at 2,4,6,12 and 24 h after surgery. The adverse effects were observed. The number of the patients who received rescue medication and the patients'global evaluation of the postoperative analgesia were recorded. Results:Resting and activity VAS in the parecoxib groups were significantly lower than the placebo group, and activity VAS in group 1 was significantly lower than group 2. In three groups, rescue medication is only given to 4 patients in group 3. There was no significantly difference in adverse effects among the three groups. The level of patient's satisfaction was higher in group 1 than in group 3.Conclusions:Parecoxib 40 mg can relieve postoperative pain and it had been proven safety in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, especially given preoperatively because it has greater analgesic effects.
