The remaining of the residual roots and crowns in anterior teeth need to be treated with post and core. Therefore, the material and morphous posts are great significance to restore these teeth. Conventional these posts are metal posts which have good physical characteristic, enough mechanical intension, and are easily to be machined. But metal posts also have some disadvantages, such as light tight, poor aesthetic characteristic and corrodible. Some patients may be hypersensitive to the mental posts. Moreover, metal posts have a high modulus of elasticity which can lead to tooth fracture—a irreversible failure.Fiber-posts are widely used in dental clinics in the decade. Fiber-posts are composed of fibre of carbon or silica surrounded by a matrix of polymer resin, usually an epoxy resin. According to the different fibers used, fiber-posts can be divided into carbon-fibre posts, glass-fibre posts, quartz-fibre posts and polyethylene fiber reinforcement resin posts, etc. while the glass-fiber post is becoming the new developing orientation because of its outlook, good physical function and mechanical function.Glass-fiber post has good flexure strength, tensile strength, biological safety, corrosion resistance, aesthetic characteristic, radiopacity and can be easily removed from root canal. Glass-fiber post has a modulus of elasticity similar to dentine. It flex under load and as a result distribute stresses between the post and the dentine. Even over loaded, it will fracture prior to tooth, which lead to the decrease of the ratio of root fracture. Objective:To investigate the clinical effects of glass fiber posts on restored in the residual roots and crowns in anterior teeth.Materials and Methods:In this clinical study,39 residual roots and crowns in anterior teeth of 25 patients were endodontically treated and retained by the glass fiber posts, resin cores and all ceramic crowns, which followed up for 1 mouth-1.5 years. Results:Thirty seven teeth were satisfactory, and 2 teeth occurred failure for post breaking in 39 teeth restored of all cases, and success rate was 94.9%. In addition, post fracture occurred in the cervical. Conclusion:The restorations of glass fiber posts used in in the residual roots and crowns in anterior teeth had more better effects.
