The plant Nannoglottis carpesioides Maxim. is the genus Nannoglottis of the family Compositae. It is a Chinese endemic genus and contains nine species, which mainly distributes in altitudes between 2400 and 4200 m in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateauand. So far, only the chemical constitutes of N. ravida were studied, but the bioactivity has never been reported. Therefore, it will be expected useful and provides scientific basis for the genus on the research of N. carpesioides. In this thesis, the chemical constituents and their bioactivities of the roots of N. carpesioides were studied for the first time.31 Compounds were isolated by means of silica gel colunm chromatography (CC), preparative thin layer chromatography (PTLC), medium pressure column chromatography, and Sephadex LH-20. The srtuctures of these compounds were elucidate by various spectroscopic methods including HRESIMS, EIMS, IR, UV, CD, 1H NMR,13C NMR, DEPT,1D-NOE,'H-'H COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Nine compounds of them were news, including seven triterpenes (among four nor-triterpenes) and two neolignans.Futhermore, the bioactivities of some compounds were studied, using MTT method to test their cytotoxic activities against human promyelocytic leukemia (HL-60) cells and human hepatoma (HepG-2) cells. Compound Nc9 exhibited good cytotoxic activity against HL-60 cells (IC50= 9.8//g/mL), Nc18 exhibited moderate cytotoxic activity against HL-60 cells (IC50= 18.0//g/mL), Nc10 exhibited moderate cytotoxic activity against HepG-2 Cells (IC50= 26.3μg/mL). Meanwhile, Nc18, Nc19, Nc20 exhibited strong radicla scavenging activity against ABTS·+[IC50(μg/mL) 12.2,9.7,12.2, respectively].Finally, the special pentacyclic triterpenes (including seco-and nor-triterpenes) and their bioactivities were reviewed in this thesis. This thesis would be a helpful for the searching for bioactive compounds from natural products, as well as the relationship between structure and bioactivity effect, chemotaxonomy and screening new medicines, and may benefit utilizing and developing the natural resources of our country.
