Objective:To explore the present situation of research and the trend of development by metrological analysis of literature, in order to lay the essential rationale for the determination correct research direction. To study the recognition situations of mutual restraint between foods among some groups of people in Lanzhou area, and supply scientific evidences for correctly treating mutual restraint between foods. To study the cognition of mutual restraint between foods and practice of diet arrangement among undergraduates and explore the safety of some mutual restraint foods. Methods:Literatures on mutual restraint among foods were sought from Chinese Journal Full-text database dated from 1994 to 2008. With the documentation of these literatures'characteristics such as year, author, periodical distribution, literature nature, the literatures were carefully analyzed. Meanwhile, books containing knowledge of mutual restraint among foods were also cheeked and analyzed with the aforementioned way. With random cluster sampling,1346 people were chosen from Lanzhou city as research subjects, including 330 students from Yuzhong Campus of Lanzhou University. After been told the purpose of this study, all the subjects were asked to finish a questionnaire over something like mutual restraint among food and interrelated knowledge, attitude and dietary behaviors. Then all these data were analyzed with the employing of statistic software-SPSS16.0.Results:Most literature and books lacked theoretical basis. Books, magazines, television, relatives and friends were the major ways for investigation object to learn about the mutual restraint between foods. People with the age above 45 and farmers were the lowest mean score in the cognition aspects.936, which accounted for 69.5% of investigation object, considered that the mutual restraint between foods was scientific, 980 of them believed it was necessary to avoid eating the mutual restraint foods, occupied 72.8%,862 of them thought it should be more concerned cooking methods and food combining, accounted for 64.0%,236 of them thought it should be often or occasionally concerned, occupied 17.5%, and 824 of them thought balanced diet and nutrition more important, accounted for 62.4%. In addition, the difference had statistical significance between students and other groups on correctly viewing mutual restraint between foods (P<0.01). Service staff paid more attention to cooking methods and food combining, doctors were more concerned with balanced diet and nutrition. The mean score on the cognition of mutual restraint between foods among undergraduates was 7.72±1.23, and no statistic differences were found between boys and girls (P>0.05) and among their different origins. It was found that 279 of the responded students supported the mutual restraint between foods,241 of them believed it was necessary to avoid eating the mutual restraint foods,273 of them thought it should be often or occasionally concerned and 82 of them had heard of some reports of death caused by having taken the mutual restraint foods, the proportion in the responded students was in sequence of 84.55%,73.03%,82.73% and 24.85%. No statistic differences were found between the adverse reaction rate of daily mutual restraint foods. While only 32 of undergraduates felt uncomfortable after ate some mutual restraint foods, specific weight is 9.70%. And relatives and books were the major ways for undergraduates to learn about the mutual restraint between foods. Conclusion:In recent years, mutual restraint between foods were widespread concern. There existed cognition differences on mutual restraint between foods among investigation object and there are certain safeties for the using of some daily mutual restraint foods. It's necessary for us to set up the scientific diet view and publicity work for nutrition knowledge still needs further improvement.
