Objective This study is observing three group of the activity of psoas SOD, in rder to investigate the relationship between the oxidative damage of the SOD of psoas and Osteoporosis. And added the study of Osteoporosis on musle. The findings can provide some basis for traditional Chinese medicine to prevent and control the osteoporosis.Methods More than 60 feminine patients of pain in waist and lower extremities came from the first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of TCM during May to December.2008, testing their Bone Minenal Density (BMD) before operating. The samples were divided into three groups (osteoporosis, osteopenia and normal control) accoring to inclusion criteria,exclusion criteria and choice criteria, each group includings 10 examples respectively. Finally the data counts the software establishment database with SPSS13.0, carries on the statistical analysis, to explore the difference of the acticity of SOD among three groups.Results1. The acticity of SOD is the biggest in normal group, then the bone less group, and at last the osteoprosis group.2. There are significant difference betwween normal group and osteoporosis group. There are no difference between osteoporosis group and osteopenia group.3. SOD has no relationship with Body Mass Index. 4. SOD has positive correlation with Bone Mineral Density.Conclusions1. As long as the BMD turns down, the activity of SOD significantly decreased.2. As the bone turns down, the oxidative damage increased. the activite of SOD decreased. The activity of SOD has close relastionship with osteoprosis 3. From the beginning of bone loss, skeletal muscle mitochondria to a significant reduction in SOD levels, oxidative damage to mitochondria was significantly increased. We insist that we can use Traditional Chinese Medicine bushenjianpi to keep the function of mitochondrial in order to defer the process of osteoprosis. when we cure osteoprosis we must both supply the Kidney and Spleen. This can solve the problem coming with muscle aging. This will bring positive significance to the cure of osteoprosis.
