Purpose:Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) is a classic concept of exercise physiology, and an important indicator of aerobic capacity of the human body. The direct method to measure the maximal oxygen uptake is not suitable to apply to large sample tests, for its requirement on the expensive, bulky test equipment and the higher environment. So we need the indirect method to measure V02max when we do a large number of people testing. There are many kinds of direct methods to measure V02max. We need find the best way. Methods:In this study, we do the step test, PWC170 test,12-minute run test and 20-m shuttle run test respectively on the same samples. And the efforts of the prediction equations established on these 4 tests are compared, while the V02max measured on the treadmill is the standard. Results:The results show that the queue is 12-minute run,20-m shuttle run, PWC170 test and step test, according with the order of the goodness of fit from high to low. Through the correlate test and paired-samles t test to compare the effects of the models to predict V02max, we found that the 12-minute run and 20-m shuttle run are good methods.Conclusion:12-minute run and 20-m shuttle run is recommended to predict the V02max of the athletes.
