ObjectiveThe aim is to investigate changes and significance of serum interleukin 17 (IL-17) of rats, which bronchiopulmonary was infected by the respiratory Candida albicans.Methods18 SD male rats were randomly divided into immune normal+Candida albicans infection group (experimental group, n=6), Candida albicans infection +immunocompromised group (positive group, n=6), immunocompromised+saline goup (negative control group, n=6). Hydrocortisone acetate was used to establish the immunocompromised rat model; The saline suspension of Candida albicans strains was adopted for establishment of Candida albicans infection model of rats through tracheal intubation; Blood serum was collected bia the tail vein 1,3,5,7 after days after infection; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used for the detection of serum IL-17 levels; Rats were sacrificed after 7 days consecutive blood collection. The right lower lung tissue was removed for further HE staining.ResultsThe serum IL-17 levels of experimental group at day 3 and 5 were higher than the positive control group and negative control group (P<0.05). The serum IL-17 levels of positive control group at day 1 and 7 have no significant difference from the negative control group (P>0.05). The intragroup serum IL-17 levels after infection 1, 3,5,7 day have no significant difference (P>0.05). The pathology of lung tissue:the structure of bronchioalveolus from the experimental group partially changed, amounts of leukocytes immersed and apparent inflammatory response displayed; the structure of bronchioalveolus from the positive group was intact, few leukocyte immersed; the structure of bronchioalveolus from the control group was normal, apparent inflammatory cell immersion was not observed.ConclusionsThe serum levels of IL-17 of the immune normal rat increased after Candida albicans infection through rat bronchiopulmonary in the infection metaphase, IL-17 may participate in the airway inflammatory response through the promotion of neutrophil accumulation in the airway. The IL-17 level is positive related to the body inflammation. IL-17 plays an important role fungal infection-mediated inflammation of respiratory tract..
