ObjectiveAs the growing high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet approach and the labor intensity and the general decline in physical activity, the prevalence of obesity in various populations in our urban and rural areas increased rapidly. Regarding the investigation reports of 1318 patients by body mass index, related factors and the way information gain the status development trend of obesity.MethodsFrom June 2008 to June 2009 in our Medical Center,1318 patients aged≥18 years of the survey taken by random sampling method.701 persons of them were male, 617 were female; aged 18 to 60 years, mean age 41.2 (±14.5) years. The patients were informed by the survey. Develop a uniform questionnaire, physical examination methods adopted. Investigation of gender, age, smoking, alcohol consumption, physical exercise, urinary incontinence and patients how to lose weight, etc., using standardized measurement tools (height and weight into account) and "China National Nutrition and Health survey manual" specification method of height and weight measurements.ResultsThe overall overweight rate was 34.4%, obesity rate was 17.7% in 1318 patients. The rate of overweight and obesity rates were higher than the national average, and women were higher than men. Drinking and lack of physical activity by overweight and obesity rate was higher than non-drinkers and regular physical exercises. Urinary incontinence prevalence rate of overweight and obesity was higer than non-overweight and obese. Majority of the population able to accept means to lose weight was diet and exercise, while the majority of the residents are not aware of their standard weight.ConclusionsOverweight and obesity has become an increasingly serious public health problem and it is necessary to strengthen public health education and universal knowledge of obesity, then doing the intervention in time.
