ObjectiveTo discuss the surgical treatment and curative effect of syringomyelia-chiari complex.MethordsThe microsurgery treatment of 72 cases were analyzed retrospectively.They were divided into two groups, which are merely suboccipital decompression and suboccipital decompression associated with reconstruction of cisterna magna.ResultsSixty-six patients were followed up, and the clinical signs and symptoms has been eliminated or improved in 54 cases. The efficiency in two groups was 62.5% and 85%, respectively. But the rates of postperative fever were 6.25% and 35%.ConcludsionsSuboccipital decompression associated with reconstruction of cisterna magna is a more effective method for the treament of syringomyelia-chiari complex. But how to reduce the rate of postoperative fever need further study.
