| Objective To analyze the clinical features, diagnosis and surgical treatment of gastric remnant carcinoma.Methods Fifty-one cases of gastric remnant carcinoma admitted in our hospital were analyzed for the clinical features, diagnosis, surgical treatment and follow-up data retrospectively, and were compared with 982 cases of other gastric cancers in the same time .Results In gastric remnant carcinoma group, the majority of the patients were male ( 43 /51) , the median age was 58, first-operation in most of patients was Billrothâ…¡procedure for gastric ulcer, in 96%(48/51)of the patients the tumor located in the anastomotic stomach, removal rate was 56.86%(29/51) and radical resection rate was 25.49%(13/51).The incidence of postoperative complications in gastric remnant carcinoma group was 5.88% (3/51) , while the control group was 5.192% , there were no statistical differences between them (p=0.637); In gastric remnant carcinoma group, overall 1,3,5-year survival rate was 78.43%,29.41%,13.73% respectively, compared with the control group (74.95%,46.95%,26.07% , respectively) , there was no statistical difference (p =0.085).Conclusion:1,The type of Bâ… or Roux-en-Y is used as far as possible when stomach is mostly excised , which may prevent or reduce reflux phenomenon. Meantime reduce the incidence of gastric stump cancer.2,Gastric stump cancer is suitable to have the radical cure remnant stomach total excision +D2 lymph node dissections,the treatment of which is safe and effective ,and the effect of which amounts to gastric cancer.3,The number of residual stomach lymph node dissection have to reach 15 , and cleaning the mesenteric root lymph node helps to improve survival rate.4,It is important for the patients of gastric stump cancer to excise actively it surgically, but passive conservative symptomatic treatment isn't beneficial.
