Objective:To observe the effect of puer tea on atherosclerosis (AS) in apoliporotein E knockout mice. Methods:Eight-week-old apoE knockout mice were divided into four groups:atherosclerosis group (n=10), puer raw tea group (n=10), cooked puer group (n=10) and Xuezhikang group (n=10). The homogeneous mice of C57BL/6J were used as the control. All mice were fed with normal chow diet. After 12 weeks, Vessels blood was collected for serum lipid and hs-CRP. All the mice were filled with 10% formalin and the aortas were stripped for morphological research and photograph analysis. Results:puer tea can reduce the bodyweight of the apoE gene knockout mice. The level of serum lipid and hs-CRP in puer tea groups (puer raw tea group and cooked puer group) were lower than those in AS group. Compared with the model group, the atherosclerosis index of puer raw tea group and cooked puer tea group were decreased obviously. Morphological reseach showed that AS lesions were found in aortas of model group, puer raw tea group, cooked puer group, and no AS lesions were found in normal group. While AS lesions of model group were more serious than those of puer raw tea group and cooked puer group. Conclusion:puer tea can relieve the AS lesions of apoE-gene knockout mice, and it can also inhibit the development of atherosclerosis. The mechanism of its anti-inflammation activity is related to modulation of inflammatory factors, which may be a potential way in controlling atherosclerosis. |
