Objective:After finding the main reason for low effective protection by the investigation of measles immunization status in rural students, taking the supplementary immunization activities(SIAs) and the corresponding intervention to improve the level of measles immunization of the rural students to explore the feasibility of measles control and elimination. Methods:To descript the effects of measures by the epidemiological and laboratory testing methods. Stratified-random sampling was used to sample 302 students from A,B rural school. Non-random was used to sample 40 teachers and 600 parents. Finally analyzing the effects of measures by the questionnaires, field survey and laboratory testing methods.Results:(1) The measles immunization status of the 302 rural students before measures: the vaccination rate of the first dose was 85.8%, the vaccination rate of the second dose was 74.8%, and the vaccination rate of the two doses was 74.8%. And measles IgG antibody positive rate was 88.7%, protection rate was 51.0%, geometric mean titer (GMT) was 1 : 551.(2) The effects of SIAs and intervention measures:1) Through the SIAs, the positive rate was great improved from 88.7%to 100%; the protection rate was improved from 51.0%to 76.9%; the two rate was respectively improved by 11.3 percentage points(P<0.001),25.9 percentage points(P<0.001). The GMT was improved from 1:551 to 1:746(P<0.05).2) Through the training, the knowledge of measles control and prevention was improved. The score of the measles knowledge was promoted from 6.5 points to 9.5 points, increased by 3 points(P<0.001). The complete awareness rate from 12.5%to 60.9%increased by 48.4 percentage points; and the complete knowledge of measles epidemiology, immunization program, and vaccination-related knowledge was increased by more than 45 percentage points.3) Through public education, the knowledge of parents and teachers to measles immunization was increased from 10.2%to 98.8%of parents(P<0.001),25%to 100%of teachers(P<0.001). Finally two of them showed they will support the measles vaccine immunization.4) Through the immunization certificate check-up, finally let the owners of certificate were increased from 67.9%to 100%.Recommendations:(1) Strengthening the popularization to improve the rational understanding to vaccination, finally to enhance the awareness of the initiative.(2) To improve the cold chain facilities and standardize the management of vaccine, finally increasing the effectiveness and safety of vaccine.(3) To strengthen professional training for village doctors and improve the level professional, finally ensuring the effectiveness of safe injection and immunization.(4) To strengthen monitoring of serum and dynamic understanding of the actual immunization level of rural students, in order to provide a scientific basis to make immunization strategies.(5) In the rural areas where high incidence of measles is far more than 0.1/100000, taking the SIAs to reduce the low-immune population to control the measles epidemic and outbreaks in the rural school.
