[Objective] A retrospective survey in our NICU about neonatal respiratory failure disease, in order to understand the incidence, mortality, risk factors and the composition and other major diseases, to provide a reference of clinical diagnosis and treatment of disease prevention.[Methods] A retrospective review of ways to capture the hospital on Jan.1, 2005 to December 31,2009 qualified for neonatal respiratory failure in 195 clinical data to analyze the basic situation of infant, constitutes a major disease, complications, treatment situation. Using SPSS11.5 software to analysis the data, measurement data using mean, standard deviation description, count data were analyzed by frequency, and a ratio described.[Results]①Morbidity and fatality rate:In 5 consecutive years, morbidity of NRF is 4.0% in the NICU, mortality was 7.7%(15 cases) in hosipital, the cases of giving up the treatment ratio were 23.1% (45 cases), fatality rate was 30.8%.②Major diseases constitute:pulmonary infection/sepsis, RDS, aspiration pneumonitis, MAS, apnea and other diseases were the major diseases of NRF.③The main complications:BPD, pulmonary infection, patent ductus arteriosus, neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis, retinopathy of prematurity were the main complications of NRF.④he treatment of NRF used PS accounted for 13.3%,23 cases of RDS used PS, accounted for 56%.⑤The maximum value of PEEP of 18 cm H2O, the minimum value of 2 cm H2O, the average PEEP in using assisted ventilation was 4.47 cm H2O, mean inspired oxygen concentration of 38.16%.⑥Median length of stay (LOS) and average hospital charges Average days of survivals in hospital for the 14d.The average hospital charges of 12,540 yuan.[Conclusions] Neonatal respiratory failure is a severe problem that had high morbidity, high mortality and high hospital charges in the regional neonatal unit, to enhance the health and perinatal respiratory treatment and use new technology and new mode to increase the s treatment success rate of NRF, there may be conducive to reducing the mortality of neonatal severe respiratory disease.
