Objective: To investigate the effect of Anterior bite plate on masticatory muscle activity in patients about temporomandibular disorders (TMD)with Deep overbite. Methods: Select 6 cases in our hospital for treatment of temporomandibular disorder patients (second anterior deep overbite malocclusion above, the main symptoms are joint pain, joint clicking, varying degrees of limited mouth opening) using anterior splint therapy, and EMG is measured before treatment and after treatment about TA and MM, by comparing changes in electromyogram to guide clinical efficacy.Results:1 The results of clinical symptom:after using the splint two months, the TMD symptoms were improved,,2 The results of EMG(1) wear the Anterior bite plate two months later, at rest position, the patient's masseter muscle and anterior temporal muscle EMG values before are lower than before treatment (p<0.05).(2) wearing the Anterior bite plate, instantly measured in patients at maximum clenching position, patient's masseter and anterior temporal muscle EMG values has decreased, the difference has statistical significance (p<0.05) . wear the splint two months later, EMG has increased, the difference has statistical significance (p<0.05).(3) wear the Anterior bite plate, instantly measuring and wear splint two months later at maximum clenching position, the muscles' symmetric rate increased significantly. (p<0.05)Conclusions:1. Through the anterior splint for treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders in patients ,the EMG values decreased at rest position , the EMG values increased at maximum clenching position and the muscles' symmetric rate increased significantly .2 Anterior splint is the treatment of deep overbite with malocclusion temporomandibular disorder an effective tool.3. EMG can an objective, true and accurately reflect the masticatory muscle function in details, through TMD patients for EMG examination, can accurately direct the clinical treatment.
