Objective: To investigate the expression and correlation of vascular endothelial growth factor and tissue factor in colorectal cancer.Material and Method: The paraffin specimens were taken from 40 patients with surgical resection of colorectal cancer in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from Jan.2005 to Dec.2007. A total of 40 cases as the experimental group, to record the detail clinical pathology, all of them are without chemotherapy and radiotherapy before operation. The expression of TF and VEGF were examined by imunohistochemical staining of ElivisionTM plus, which was in order to seek out the relationships between their expression and the invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinomas. .Spearman method was used to analyze the relationship between TF and VEGF expression in colorectal cancer.Results: 1. The positive staining of TF mainly located in cytoplasm and membrane. The expression of TF was not associated with the shape, site and histologic type of colorectal carcinoma (P>0.05), TF was correlated with the depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05). TF expression was correlated with liver metastasis (P<0.05). TF expression was also correlated with the clinical stage of colorectal carcinoma.(P<0.05) .Incidence of TF expression was 45.5%,89.7% in tumors from patients in clinical stagesâ… /â…¡andâ…¢/â…£respectively. There was significant difference between them (P<0.05).2. The positive staining of VEGF mainly located in membrane, merely cytoplasm. The expression of TF and VEGF were not associated with the shape, site and histologic type of colorectal carcinoma (P>0.05), The expression of VEGF show no correlation with the depth of invasion lymph node and liver metastasis.(P>0.05). Incidence of VEGF expression was 45.5%,82.8% in tumors from patients in clinical stageâ… /â…¡andâ…¢/â…£. VEGF expression show a association with clinical stage (P<0.05).3. Using semi-quantitative method to analyze the expression of TF and VEGF in 40 cases of colorectal carcinoma and using Spearman rank correlation analysis ,There was a positive correlation between the expression of TF and VEGF(rs=0.517, P=0.001).Conclusion1. TF may facilitate the invasion and metastasis through encourage the ability of tumor invasion , lymph node and live metastasis in colorectal cancer.2. The expression of TF and VEGF present positive correlation with cacinomal clinical stage.3. There was a positive correlation between the expression of TF and VEGF.4.TF expression might be an important angiogenic factor and prognostic factor in colorectal cancer.
