Study On The Expression Of MMP-2,MMP-9 In The AFP-Producing Gastric Cancer

Objective:1. To discuss the expression of matrix metalloproteinase -2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase -9 (MMP-9) in the alpha- fetoprotein- positive gastric cancer (APGC) .2. To discuss the clinicopathological characteristic of the APGCMethods:To select 152 cases'paraffin sections which have been diagnosed patholo- gically gastric cancer.The AFP-positive cases as the experimental group, negative cases as the control group, to discuss the differences of clinicopathological factors between the two groups;to discuss the differences of MMP-9,MMP-2 in APGC and non-APGC . the data had been analyzed by SPSS 12.0 statistical software, the positive rates between different groups usingχ2 test, When p <0. 05, there is statistical significance.Results:1. The morphological characteristics of AFP,MMP-2,MMP-9 stainingThe cells which yellow, brown granules could seen in cytoplasm means positive for AFP, MMP-2, MMP-92. The expression of AFP in gastric cancer and the relation with clinical biological behavior.There are 22 AFP- positive in 152 cases, positive rate was about 14.5% (22/152). The expression of AFP was not related with patient's sex,age,tumor location (p value> 0.05), but with tumor diameter,differentiation,invasion depth,clinical stage,lymph node metastasis,liver metastasis (p value <0.05).3. The different expression of MMP-9 in APGC and non-APGCThere are 20 MMP-9- positive in APGC, positive rate was about 90.9%(20/22);There are 80 MMP-9- positive in non-APGC, positive rate was about 61.5%(80/130), The former was significantly higher than the latter. 4. The different expression of MMP-2 in APGC and non-APGCThere are 19 MMP-2- positive in APGC, positive rate was about 86.36% (19/22);There are 79 VEGF- positive in non-APGC, positive rate was about 60.77% (79/130),.The former was significantly higher than the latter.Conclusions:1. APGC is more malignant than non-APGC.2. MMP-9,MMP-2 was significantly higher in APGC.The high expression of MMP-9,MMP-2 may be one reason for high malignancy of APGC.
