The Angle Ⅱ Division 1 Malocclusion Treatment By Headgear-Activator: A Conterpart Anlisis

Objective: To compare the growth and development of the Angleâ…¡division 1 malocclusion and the individual normal occlusion according to Enlow's counterpart analysis. To analyze the mechanism and the actual effect of the treatment by headgear-activator eliminating the influence of the natural growth.To approach the guidance to the clinical practice of the counterpart analysis.Material and Method:68 objects are choosed ,which are at the early peak time of growth including the rapeutic group of 23 cases treated by headgear-activator and the control group of 20 cases handled by fixed appliance treatment and the normal occlusion group of 25 cases.The Cephalometric films are collected before and after observation .Cephalometric analysis are compared among the three groups with Enlow's counterpart analysis.Result:1.The upper dental inclination of the rapeutic group is reduced.The position and length of the maxilla are controlled.The mandibular corpus antedisplaced and its length increases.The growth direction of the craniofacial complex is maintained.The relative inclination of the upper and lower incisors gets concordant.The relative position of the maxilla and mandibular is improved.There is evident growth of the length of the mandibular corpus opposite the maxilla.2. The width and height of the mandibular ramus in the rapeutic group raise apparently.The position of the mandibular ramus antedisplaced related to skull base.The ramus has compensational growth perpendicularly and horizontally related to middle cranial fossa.3.The tendency of airway constriction of the rapeutic group is amended.The ramus growth is slower than the nasopharynx gap in control group.The changes of the nasopharynx gap vs the middle cranial fossa are coincide in the three groups.Conclusion:The therapeutic effect to the Angleâ…¡division 1 malocclusion by headgear-activator are notable and the Enlow's counterpart analysis can analyze the alteration specifically and intuitively and can reflex the correspondent change and compensational growth of the manxilla and mandibular,ramus and middle cranial fossa and the pharyngeal space.There is guidance for individual treatment protocols in medical practice by applying Enlow's counterpart analysis.
