Objective To evaluate personality traits and familial and social risk factors in male alcoholics with family physical violence,for providing rational theory to predicte and intervene male alcoholics'family physical violence.Methods Use control study,40 male alcoholics with family physical violence (The Study Group),40 male alcoholics with non-family physical violence (The Control Group) and 40 non-alcohol dependece and non-family physical violence(The Normal Control Group) were assessed with demographic information questionnaire,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test(MAST),Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS),Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale,Second Edition—China Version ( FACESII—CV ),Impulsive Behavior Scale(IBS),Enrich Marital Inventory(ENRICH).All data are used spss16.0 software for statistical analysis,through multi-factor logistic model assess domestic body violent'risk factors in male alcoholics.Results1. The Study Group have less family income,more physical abused, more parent alcohol abuse or dependece,the age for the first drink is younger,drinking more evey time and drinking more frequently . Alcoholics were higher divorce rate.2. The four dimensions of EPQ personality:The P(Psychoticism) and the N(Neuroticism) scores of The Study Group are higher(P﹤0.05) and the E(Extraversion) and the L(Lier) scores are lower(P﹤0.05) than The Control Group;The P,N,L scores are higher (P﹤0.05)and The E scores are lower (P﹤0.05) of The Study Group than The Normal Control Group, the differences are all statistically significant.3. In MAST ,The Study Group for help because of alcohol scores are lower than The Control Group, the difference is statistically significant (P <0.05), marital or family problems scores are higher than The Control Group, the differences are Statistical significance (P <0.01).4. In SSRS, all factors'scores in The Study Group are lower than The Control Group, in which the use of support scores(P <0.01) and total support scores(P <0.05) differences are statistically significant, and the differences in objective support scores and subjective support scores in the two groups are no statistical Significance. All factors'scores in The Study group are lower than The Normal Control group (P <0.05or0.01), differences are statistically significant.5. In FACESII—CV , the actual cohesion scores and actual adaption scores of The Study group are lower than The Control Group and The Normal Control Group, the differences are statistically significant (P <0.01).6. In IBS scale, The Study group in unplanned scores (P <0.01), the motives of the impulse scores(P <0.05), total impulse scores(P <0.05)are higher than The Control Group, the differences are statistically significant; in recognition scores ,the differences between the two groups was not significant. Compare With The Normal Control Group, all factors'scores in IBS,The Study Group are all Higher(P <0.05or0.01), the difference are statistically significant.7. In ENRICH Scale, The Study Group's Olson marital total scores are lower than The Control syudy and The Normal Control Group(P <0.01), the differences are statistically significant Further Logistic regression analysis found that The high risk factors of male alcoholics'family physical violence as follow: there is a family history of alcohol abuse, the first time as early as age drinking, drinking frequency, the amount of alcohol use each time, more affected by childhood physical abuse, Poor actual familial adaptation, the use of the social support is poor;And personality characteristics of low neuroticism, low motivation impulsive, good quality of marriage have protective effect to avoid the occurrence of their violence.Conclusions Have the following characteristics of the male alcoholics that pose a higher risk of family physical violence: 1. The existence of the family environment which easy to get alcohol and have a serious drinking problem in themselves: there is a family history of alcohol abuse, early age of first drink, alcohol frequent ,alcohol per volume; 2. with the spirit of high Psychoticism and Neuroticism and low Extraversion and lier of personality, with a high motivation impulsive personality; 3. the home environment of low economic income, the actual poor adaptability, poor quality marriage, by many childhood history of physical abuse; 4. social support and to use the support poor. The role of various risk factors for violence in male alcohol-dependent individuals is an important mechanism in their physical violence against family members.
