Objective: To investigate the MRI change of contusion in different regions of femoral condyle and its clinical significanceMethods: The knee joint MRI materials of 29 cases having femoral condyle contusion were analyzed, including the location and clinical characteristics of contusion. Of all the 29 cases, 46 areas of femoral condyle contusion were found, which included 42 bone injured cases in epiphysis. 31 areas of femoral condyle contusion were found in lateral condyle, and 11 areas of femoral condyle contusion were found in medial condyle. Of all the cases, 24 areas of femoral condyle contusion were found in weight loading areas, Which accounted for 52 percent of the total number of contusion. We recommended that patients with acute injury should restrict weight-bearing walking, and do functional exercise and physical therapy for three weeks. Cleanning-up, drilling decompression under knee arthroscopy were done to cure the four patients with symptoms over eight weeks after injury.Result:Of all the 25 cases of acute injury patients, 14 patients' symptoms disappeared completely,6 patients' symptoms improved more or less after three weeks' conservative treatment. The 5 patients' therapeutic effect was not obvious. While patients with obsolete injury began to do weight-bearing exersise in four weeks after surgery, Joint pain disappeared and had good range of motion. In seven months after surgery, 1 case underwent follow-up MRI scanning showed the contusion absorbed apparently, Integrity of cartilage filled completely under knee arthroscopy. Conclusion: The contusion of femoral condyle in the weight-bearing area occurred frequently. The time of full absorbtion was longer than that of expectation. schemic events might occur happen in long term. Contusion of femoral condyle, especially in the weight-bearing area, should be paid more attention to give early proper treatment.
