Investigation Of The Relationship Between P300 Changes And Neuropsychological Assessment Of Dementia With TCM Syndromes

Objective:To study the event-related potential P300(ERP-P300,P300) characteristics of dementia patients,and the correlation between P300 indexes and Neuropsychological assessment of dementia patients,and the correlation between P300,Neuropsychological assessment and the syndromes of TCM.It is expected to provide an objective index for the diagnosis of dementia,TCM differentiation,therapeutic evaluation and judgement of prognosis.Methods:Patients were selected according inclusion and exclusion criterion,including 24 asthenia syndrome and 27 sthenia syndrome of dementia,30 healthy elderly.Every patient was examined by ERP-P300 and neuropsychological scale.To study the correlation between indexes and dementia patients,the significance to TCM syndrome differentiation.Results:1.Compared with normal controls,dementia patients have shown P300 latencies prolonged and amplitude decreased.2.P300 latency had a negative correlation with the scores of MMSE,while the age was positively;The wave amplitude of P300 had a positive correlation with the scores of MMSE.3.The changes of the P300 latency of the heart and liver yin deficiency compared with other syndromes have statistical significance.4 The relationship between neuropsychological assessment and TCM syndrome differentiation are:Cognitive dysfunction scores of Kidney deficiency and heart and spleen syndrome decreased more dramatical than other syndromes.Ability of daily living scores of Phlegm obstruction and blood stasis was higher than other syndromes.Conclusions:1.There are significant changes in dementia patients with P300 tests,suggest the impaired cognitive function.P300 tests have some clinical significant assistance in the diagnosis of dementia.2.P300 latency and wave amplitude of dementia were found significantly correlated with the results of cognitive assessment,P300 might be used to help to evaluate the impaired cognitive function of dementia.3.The P300 latency in patients with heart and liver yin deficiency compared with other syndromes was shorter,P300 latency prompted the dialectic of traditional Chinese medicine have reference value.4.The relationship between neuropsychological assessment and TCM syndrome differentiation are:Cognitive dysfunction scores of Kidney deficiency and heart and spleen syndrome decreased more dramatical than other syndromes.Ability of daily living scores of Phlegm obstruction and blood stasis was higher than other syndromes.It suggests that the scores of neuropsychological tests may be used as a reference index to the TCM syndromes.
