Objective To investigate clinical relationship of negative pressure tympanograms and eardrum effusion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma .Method To ascertain 51 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients (63ears) tympanogram peak pressure(TPP);tympanogram width(TW);middle ear resonant frequency ; homonymy acoustic stapedial reflex of negative pressure tympanograms using GSI Tympstar II Middle Ear Analyzer of America ,each of patient have auripunctured after test, we have divide to three groups according to eardrum effusion quantity , they are non-effusion group (31ears),little-effusion group (18ears) and mickle-effusion group (14ears),then have analysis on basis of all statistics data.Result In TPP and resonant frequency ,non-effusion group with little-effusion group and mickle-effusion group have significant deviation(P<0.05); In resonant frequency , little-effusion group and mickle-effusion group have significant deviation also(P<0.05);in TW, non-effusion group have significant deviation from mickle-effusion group (P<0.05); homonymy acoustic could not been elicited in little-effusion group and mickle-effusion group. Conclusion The clinical relationship of negative pressure tympanogram and eardrum effusion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma has indeterminateness, tympanogram peak pressure ,tympanogram width ,middle ear resonant frequency and homonymy acoustic stapedial reflex of negative pressure tympanograms have important dianostic value on judging eardrum effusion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
