Platycodon grandiflorum(Jacq.)A DC. (JieGeng) is an important plant in China, which has been used as medicine or food for centuries. In the process of production, a large number of non-medicinal Platycodon grandiflorum part emerged but only used as agricultural waste, had not been fully utilized at all. Ganoderma was an medicinal fungus, which could be fermententd in the medium containing Chinese herbal medicine. After Ganoderma fermentation, the obtained products were different from fungal products of general culture, which had both abilities of fungus and Chinese herbal medicine, and may have new effectiveness. In this paper, Ganoderma- Platycodon grandiflorum new type (two-way pattern) solid fermentation engineering and the antioxidant funcation of this fermemtation were researched.1. To screen the optimal inoculated strain of Ganoderma- Platycodon grandiflorum new type (two-way pattern) solid fermentation engineering. This paper chose six Ganoderma.spp as alternative strains. Then, several experiments were done to decide the optimal inoculated strain. The optimal inoculated strain was Ganoderma. sinense.2. To analyze the C/N content of non-medicinal Platycodon grandiflorum part. The proportion of C/N was 50:1, which could be adjusted to those of Ganoderma fermention medium substrate added wheat-bran into.3. To establish the system of Ganoderma- Platycodon grandiflorum new type (two-way pattern) solid fermentation engineering. The optimal medium formula is following: Platycodon grandiflorum waste 30%, others 70 %( wheat-bran 4%, corn-cob 66%). The optimal water volume in the medium was 55% and the fermention end point was 5d after the fungal mycelia growing into full bag.4. To study the antioxidant properties of Ganoderma- Platycodon grandiflorum fermentation products. The antioxidant components of products contained both polysaccharides and total phenols. From the results of pharmacodynamical experiments, Ganoderma- Platycodon grandiflorum new type (two-way pattern) solid fermentation substance had extended panting time after decapitation in mice.
