The Study On The Fluorine Pollution In Groundwater And Related Diseases In Ling County Of Dezhou City

Fluoride is the halogen element with a wide range distribution in nature, which is caused both by the natural and human factors. It is one of the indispensable trace elements in the human body, chiefly in bone and teeth tissues. Appropriate amounts of fluoride are good for human health, while lack of fluoride can result in the dental caries and brittle bones. However, excessive fluoride in human bodies may lead to such diseases as teeth fluorosis and skeleton fluorosis.The contents of fluoride in Dezhou Lingxian groundwater were studied by the use of different methods and the degrees of fluoride pollution in various townships were evaluated. The results showed that the fluoride in wells of every Lingxian townships all exceed the standard. And the wells over standard have been accounted for 67.9 % of all the monitoring ones.The grid-point method and ion selective electrode were adopted in the sample collectings in the study, and two points instead of the traditional five points in the calibration curves were proposed along with the several experiment proving its validity and accuracy. In addition, the impact factors such as the pH and temperature were analysed to draw the best experimental conditions. Some factors like the aerial migration and hydrogeology were also investigated. The results indicated that the small amounts of fluoride by the industrial discharge could not lead to the pollution of fluoride, but the hydrogeological factors are the main causes that result in fluoride pollution of the groundwater.Besides, the prevalence rates of the fluorosis in Lingxian residents were made at random to see the correlation between the fluoride pollution and the fluoresis in order to provide the prevention and control measures. The results showed that the Long-term drinking of high fluoride groundwater is the main reason of suffering from fluorosis. And the prevalence rate of dental fluorosis increased with the high concentration of fluoride in groundwater.A comprehensive and systematic analysis on the groundwater fluoride pollution were studied and the conclusion drawn from the correlation between the fluorosis and the pollution of Dezhou Lingxian provides a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of the fluorosis.
