Objective:To evaluate the choice of operative method, timing of surgery and the outcome of distal tibia fracture.Methods:30 patients with distal tibia fracture operatively treated between May,2005 and January,2009 were followed up.Fracture type: There are1 case of A1 type,5 cases of A2 type,5 cases of A3 type,2 cases of B1 and 2 cases of B2,1 case of B3,6 cases of C2,8 cases of C3.During the operation,9 patients had internal fixation with cloverleaf plates,11 patients had internal fixation with anatomy plates,6 patients with LCPs,and 1 patient with lateral twisting plates, another 1 patient with lag screws,1 last patient had limited open reduction and internal fixation coupled with external fixation.Results:27 cases were followed in practice. The average time of following is 23.6 months.According to Mazur's criterion, the result of the treatment is evaluated as excellent in 16 patients, good in 7 patients, fair in 4 patients. No poor result is found.Acceptance rate is 85.2%. Complications included infection in 2 cases, degenerative changes in angle joint in 3 patients, traumatic arthritis in 1 patient. Conclusion:In order to get a satisfactory result it's important to have the right choice and timing of surgery and correct method of fixation in distal tibia fracture.
