Background Dysphagia is the common complication in the acute stroke which cause aspiration pneumonia, deteriorate the nutritional status, effect the functional recovery, increase the poor outcome. It is important to discuss the timing.method. nutrient component of nutrition support in the dysphagic stroke .The FOOD trial conclusions suggest that the dysphagic stroke should be fed early by nasogastric tube . Currently,it is unknown that the nutrient component effect on the acute stoke. Objective To discuss the effect of early enteral nutrition support by different nutrient component on nutritional status and pneumonia for acute ischemic. Methods The acute ischemic stroke patients with dysphagia confirmed by MRI were evaluated the swallowing function by GUSS, 58 patient were included which GUSS scale were below 14 and were allocated randomly into standard nutrition group(n=30) and common diet group(n=28), They were fed with enteral nutrients by nasogastric tube within 72 hours after admission. Serum albumin(ALB) level and Serum prealbumin(PA) level were measured . on 1day.14 day after admission. the incidence of pneumonia was also measured .Results 14 day after admission , the level of ALB and PA deceased little in the standard nutrition group .by contrast ,the level of ALB and PA deceased more in the common diet group ;the incidence of pneumonia was lower in the standard nutrition group; the level of ALB on admission was lower in the group with pneumonia. Conclusion Early Enteral Nutrition Support can alleviate the deterioration of nutritional status and decrease the occurrence of pneumonia for acute ischemic stroke patients with dysphagia .
