Objectice To investigate the role of CD4+ T cells,IL-6 in the prostate tissue of rat model for chronic abacterial prostatitis(CAP)and the effects of suplatast tosilate in the treatment of CAP. To elucidate the immune mechanism of CAP.Methods 40 Aged Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups:the normal control group(10 rats) , the rat model for CAP group(10 rats), the low dose suplatast tosilate group(10 rats) and the high dose suplatast tosilate group(10 rats). The changes in histopathology of prostatic gland were investigated by HE stain. The expression of CD4+ T cells and IL-6 were detected by immunohistochemistry(sp). Results (1) The changes in histopathology in the animal model were similar to those in clinical CAP and the inflammation of suplatast tosilate treatment groups obviously changed for the better. (2) The expression of CD4 and IL-6 in the rat model for CAP group were higher than those in the normal control group (P<0.01). (3). Compared with the rat model for CAP group, the expression of CD4+ T cells and IL-6 in the suplatast tosilate groups were abated significantly (P<0.01). (4) .Compared with the low dose suplatast tosilate group, the expression of CD4+ T cells and IL-6 in the high dose suplatast tosilate group were abated significantly (P<0.01);Conclusion Autoimmune response mediated by the CD4+ T cells may be the pathogenesy to some patients with CAP. Suplatast tosilate has therapeutic effects on CAP.The mechanism may be through inhibiting the infiltration of CD4+ T cells and the secretion of IL-6.
