Scoliosis is a complex three-dimensional deformity of the spine and rib cage that produces cosmetic asymmetries of the trunk. The AIS(adolescent idiopathic scoliosis) accounts for the maximal proportion of cases of scoliosis, which damage the health of adolescent seriously. Experts from medical field and industry field pay much attention to the research of the mechanism and correction patterns of scoliosis. This paper is based on the key project"mechanical virtual human of China"supported by National Natural Science Foundation, and project"Biomechanical study of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis"funded by the Public health bureau of Shanghai. The 3D geometrical model and mechanical model of spine system were built to analyse the biomechanical characteristic of scoliotic spine, which provide a platform for the numerical analysis of scoliosis correction patterns. This platform support the theoretical research of correction brace and also build a connection between doctor and patient. This paper studied a rapid establishment method of a simplified model of the spine. The entire spine including the thoracic spine (T1-T12), lumbar spine (L1-L5) ,the intervertebral discs, the rib. According to the results, the rib cannot be ignored because the results with and without the rib are different, and the results of compression force are better than that of axial force. Because this method needs less time, and causes less radiation to patients, it will bring much convenience and support to the clinical application.
