| Objective:To investigate the effect of early phase debridement by the different intervention opportunity and frequencies on postoperative symp- toms recovery and transitionary process of mucosa after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS).Methods: 67 patients undergone ESS were divided into intervention group and control group .We performed debridement of the nasal cavities on the 1th,4th,8th,12th postoperative week on patients of intervention group, and debridement on the 1th,2th,3th,4th,6th,8th,12th postoperative week on patients of control group.Intranasal corticosteroids ,p.o Corticoste- roids, p.o macrolides antiinflammatory and Postoperative saline douching was used in both groups. The primary outcome measure which was used to eavaluate the effect was the postoperative Lund-Kennedy Symptom Score. Results: The patients in the intervention group on all domains of the Lund-MacKay Score compared with the patients in the control group. The difference between the two groups was no statistically significant. Conclusions: frequent early debridement during the Postoperative period produced minor symptomatic benefit in patients recovering from ESS.Therefore, in terms of subjective recovery and health care costs repeated debridement is not justified during the first postoperative week after ESS.Appropriate extended postoperative management time and decrease intervention frequencies were not influence the therapeutic effect of endos copic surgery for chronic sinusitis and/ or nasal polyps. |
